This course covers the most common concerns and questions I have on both my Baby & Child First Aid and Weaning courses all in one course! The First Aid for Weaning course is designed for parents, grandparents & carers.

In working with families over the last 30 years, this advice has ensured…..

  • Parents have felt confident introducing lumps, textures and finger foods through the latest First Aid advice, plus practical tips.

  • Your baby will be much happier being more involved holding foods and learning to feed themselves, which ensures much happier meal times and in the long term a child who enjoys a variety of food and textures

  • The course is also popular with grandparents as Weaning advice has greatly changed in a generation.  Babies are weaned at a later age of around 6 months compared to a few decades ago plus the introduction of Baby Led Weaning and finger foods means this course is extremely beneficial to grandparents who may be caring or spending time with their grandchild

Why choose this course?

Over the last 30 years, I have seen time and time again how vital it is that parents feel confident with choking and allergies to progress through Weaning.  This ensures it is a positive experience for your little one and sets the foundations for happy, healthy family mealtimes.  The benefits of which will last a lifetime.

I can honestly see a mile off when parents who are feeling confident with lumps and finger foods, compared to those who are scared about choking, don’t realise gagging is a normal reflex and perhaps are unsure what finger foods are all about - this is the course you need and the support you deserve.

Why am I best placed to help you?  Here's a bit about me...

I have supported parents and their little ones on their Weaning journey for over 30 years.  Plus I have experienced Weaning my own two children.  As a Paediatric Nurse for working in A&E I see parents’ concerns about allergies and choking.  I know both sides.  I am a Mummy of two and I've been there wondering if they would manage certain foods.

I’ve wanted to look after babies for as long as I can remember. My dream was fulfilled when I trained as a Paediatric Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital.  I later moved to Paediatric A&E, where I still work.  I have had various Nursing roles and as a Health Visitor in the community & hospital.  I am an Infant Massage Instructor and am passionate about the lifelong benefits the classes bring.

In 2006, while working in London, I recognised the need for a relaxed, friendly service addressing common parental concerns.  Baby Steps was born offering courses to parents in their home in First Aid, Weaning & Baby Massage. After running Baby Steps in London for 13 years, we moved to Hampshire.  Here I have a beautiful studio in the woods which offers a calm cocoon for new parents and babies to do my courses.  And now the online courses which mean I can help even more families.

My mission is to 'To give reassurance and confidence to a parent and baby every day”.  In the last 27 years, I have had the privilege of caring for the most amazing families.  I feel I have the best job in the world & the testimonies I receive make my heart sing!

I am Mummy to Isabella and William.  Being a parent has exceeded all I could have wished for but it is also harder than I could have imagined!!  I’ve been there and can’t wait to support you.
